ONE of Sydney's most notorious gang rapists is fighting for his life after being bashed in Goulburn jail. He was with his older brother and fellow gang rapist in the yards of Goulburn Correctional Centre when they were set upon by six prisoners on Thursday afternoon. The younger man suffered serious head injuries and was evacuated to Canberra hospital in a critical condition. Goulburn Police Inspector Joseph Thone said the 26-year-old was operated on by surgeons on Thursday night and was in a serious but stable condition last night. The 28-year-old brother suffered a broken arm and was returned to the prison yesterday after a night in Goulburn Base Hospital. Authorities would not confirm the identities of the men. But the Nine Network reported they were the eldest of four Pakistan-born brothers convicted in 2002 for a number of gang rapes, including that of Tegan Warner, who was 14 at the time of the assault.

A hearing to determine whether a court-martial will be held is scheduled in February for a retired soldier from Washington state who is charged with rape and murder in the deaths of a military spouse and her daughters. The Article 32 hearing is scheduled February 20th at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, for Master Sergeant Timothy B. Hennis, who lives in Lakewood, Washington. The 48-year-old is charged in the 1985 slaying and rape of Kathryn Eastburn and the killing of her young daughters in their North Carolina home. Hennis, who had responded to their ad to adopt their dog, was convicted in July of 1986, and sentenced to death. But he was acquitted at a new trial in 1989. After retiring from the Army in 2004, Hennis was recalled from his Washington home in October as military officials opened an investigation after receiving new D-N-A evidence from the county prosecutor.

British Parliament reports sharp rise in anti-Semitism

London law firm Mishcon de Reya in partnership with the Parliamentary Committee Against Anti-Semitism hosted a panel forum on Wednesday to discuss the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Anti-Semitism, a report released in September which showed a sharp rise in anti-Semitism in the UK. The inquiry was set up in 2005 to investigate the nature and extent of contemporary anti-Semitism. It was established against a background of steadily rising anti-Semitic attacks, which reached a peak of more than 530 incidents on members of the UK's 300,000 strong Jewish community in 2004. On the panel were Parliament members Iain Duncan Smith, Dr Denis MacShane and John Mann, all members of the all-party panel set up in 2005. A Saudi court has sentenced a gang rape victim to 90 lashes of the whip because she was alone in a car with a man to whom she was not married. The sentence was passed at the end of a trial in which the al- Qateef high criminal court convicted four Saudis convicted of the rape, sentencing them to prison terms and a total of 2,230 lashes. The four, all married, were sentenced respectively to five years and 1,000 lashes, four years and 800 lashes, four years and 350 lashes, and one year and 80 lashes. A US federal judge has ordered the head of a disbanded Haitian paramilitary group living in New York to pay $US19 million ($25.12 million) in damages to three women raped by his men in the early 1990s. Federal Judge Sidney Stein ruled yesterday that Emmanuel "Toto" Constant, the former head of a pro-government paramilitary group known as FRAPH, was responsible for torture, including rape, attempted murder and crimes against humanity. Constant was ordered to pay $US15 million ($19.83 million) in punitive damages and $US4 million ($5.29 million) in compensatory damages to the three women. Last year, the LCHS FACS leadership team partnered with the Fort Scott Community College Harley Davidson School to promote Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots is a national effort to provide Christmas presents for needy children. The effort not only provided Christmas presents for children in the Southeast Kansas area, but also earned the LCHS FACS team a gold medal at their state competition last year. "We decided we were going to do that again this year with a whole new twist," said LCHS FACS secretary Tara Emerson. This year the FACS team's community service efforts will also encompass child abuse prevention, she said.

In a decision released this week, the state parole board has decided to continue the terms of Boog's parole. Since his release in August, Boog has been in a halfway house in Salt Lake City. The board could keep him on parole for the rest of his life. However, the Utah Department of Corrections makes recommendations based on performance and treatment. This compared to 73 for the corresponding period 2004/05, showing an increase of seven police reported matters. A 20-year-old Sheboygan woman was charged Thursday for allegedly vandalizing the private car of a Sheboygan police officer whom she accused of sexual harassment.

Rachel E. Kaquatosh, of 328 St. Clair Ave., filed a complaint about 4 p.m. Wednesday concerning the conduct of Officer Kurt Zempel of the Sheboygan Police Department in a drug raid on her boyfriend's apartment on Monday, police said.

Kaquatosh then located Zempel's personal vehicle and caused an estimated $500 in damage by throwing a rock at it, police said. She left a note that included the phrases "I know where you stay (expletive)" and "See you and your family soon," according to a criminal complaint.

Accused Australian pedophile Don Storen denied trying to bribe his alleged victims' families, but then had to admit there were "contacts" between his lawyers and the families.
Storen's trial for allegedly sexually abusing four boys aged between 13 and 15 began on the Indonesian island of Lombok yesterday. Prosecutors confirmed they had downgraded the charges against Storen from child molestation which can incur a 15-year sentence to indecent sexual behaviour which carries a maximum five-year jail sentence.
Prosecutors said they had decided not to pursue the more serious offences because it could not be proved that Storen had used force. The police strongly recommended tougher charges.

A recent third type of anti-Jewish odium is something different. It is a strange mixture of violent hatred by radical Islamists and what amounts to more or less indifference to it by Westerners.
